About Corey Mace

Corey brings nearly a decade of experience with Overhead Catenary System (OCS) infrastructure design and traction power electrification installation means and methods. He has participated in OCS technical work groups where he engaged in constructability reviews and work plan development meetings, offering design enhancement and construction approach guidance. Corey has overseen complex OCS work in active track rail corridors with 50+ daily trains where he developed ROW access, material staging, and installation plans for foundation drilling, mast erection, and stringing messenger/contact wire. He has worked on $5B+ in rail transit projects where he managed diverse scopes of work that include OCS infrastructure, ballasted track, utilities, asphalt, concrete, structures, and retaining walls. Corey works closely with senior leadership, construction superintendents, foremen, and quality and safety leads throughout the life of a project. He monitors construction activities and works to ensure construction progresses as scheduled and is performed to contract specifications.

    This design-build Heavy Maintenance Facility (HMF) is to be constructed within Amtrak’s existing Penn Coach Yard in Philadelphia, near the 30th Street Station. The HMF spans 2.5 acres and has a floor area of sqft. The facility includes a two-bay enclosed Maintenance and Inspection facility with inspection pits, a drop table, diesel exhaust hoods, rail car roof access via high level platforms, and fueling pads on each end. It also includes a two-track Service and Cleaning Facility with inspection pits and pedestals, wash cabinets, and fueling pads on each end. Within the facility, there are three ton overhead cranes, a 30 ton bridge crane, an overhead catenary system with lockout technology, 480 power, water and air cabinets, employee wellness spaces (locker room, bathrooms, and cafeteria), and offices space. Within the existing Penn Coach Yard site, 7.61 acres will be cleared, including the demolition and relocation of existing track and facilities. In total, 370,4201 sqft of building and structures will be constructed. Additional site work includes 120,057 cy of excavation, 22,770 sqft of retaining wall, 308,744 sf of asphalt paving, drainage structures, 114 OCS foundation structures, and utilities including 6,076 feet of new water main. The yard will remain active through all phases of work – work will be coordinated around Amtrak, SEPTA, and CSXT trains.
