About Corey Love
Dr. Corey T. Love is a materials scientist in the Alternative Energy Section of the Chemistry Division at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). Corey has over 16 years of experience developing materials with improved performance for power and energy applications, corrosion protection and structural rehabilitation. His current research focuses on experimental methods to observe and understand dendrite formation and growth in lithium-ion batteries to improve safety and mitigate failures. Corey applies the results of his basic science research towards the development of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy-based diagnostic tools to probe the stability of lithium-ion batteries to diagnose potential faults and measure battery state-of-health. His patent-pending work, “Battery Health Monitoring System and Method” was an NRL “Top 20 Accomplishment” of 2011.
