ABOUT TERRI COOLEY-BENNETT
I earned my Doctorate of Social Work (DSW) at the Tulane University School of Social Work. I completed a Teaching Fellowship while at Tulane. My interests include providing clinical instruction to students, supervisees, and those seeking licensure. My research interests include homelessness, interventions that meet the behavioral health needs of the unhoused population, and mental health. I a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Missouri and Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker in Kansas, have a certification from the Missouri Credentialing Board as a Co-occurring Disorders Professional Diplomate, and am certified by the Mayo Clinic as a Tobbaco Treatment Specialist. Other interests include working with individuals in poverty who have experienced trauma, sexual exploitation, mental illness, co-occurring disorders, addiction, and homelessness. I provide contract services for not-for-profit agencies, mental health HMOs, and other organizations. I provide client-centered psychotherapy using a variety of interventions to meet individual client needs. At Shelter KC: A Kansas City Rescue Mission, I facilitated the opening of a 20-bed facility for women with issues of homelessness, trauma, mental illness, and addictions; oversaw and led the clinical treatment team, and was the primary author of the program manual and clinical program. I was an Adjunct Professor/Lecturer at the University of Kansas, School of Social Welfare and for the City Vision University Addictions Counseling Program. I work for Swope Health Services, a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center and Certified Community Behavioral Health Center. I am a workshop presenter, trainer, and speaker for the Missouri National Association of Social Workers and am on the Board of Directors. I provide training for various organizations including the Missouri Credentialing Board, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), First Call, the Missouri Department of Mental Health, the Missouri Coalition for Community Behavioral Healthcare, and others.
