When I began working in sustainability in 2007, it was primarily viewed as a PR function. Living through the dramatic evolution of my profession into a multi-faceted discipline with technical specializations touching everything from data science and modeling to complex environmental management challenges and an evolving regulatory framework, has been an exciting journey. I\'m fortunate to be in this challenging field of work and believe that, as sustainability professionals, we have a responsibility to present long-term risks and opportunities, emphasize the urgency of protecting our natural environment, promote social equity and propose actionable improvements. The future fitness of every business is dependent on our approach to sustainability today, including the coalitions we form and the policy frameworks we support.
