About Constantin Popescu
Most of the things on which we are reliant today have been engineered and optimized into their present form by countless disruptors, misfits, and creatives that challenged the status quo. As an engineer and researcher, I take pride in doing my part and carrying on the legacy left towards the improvement of our world’s infrastructure. As a Researcher, I lead a team of graduate students/engineers responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Accelerated Pavement Testing (APT) Facility at UT Arlington. I’m focused on streamlining/optimizing testing procedures, maintenance operations, and industry-specific equipment use. Together with my team, we are helping state agencies and private companies put their innovative pavement structures to the test in a fast and reliable way.As a Ph.D. candidate, the emphasis of my research is on improving the design of asphalt pavement structures by increasing their resistance to Truck Platooning. Finally, as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, I instructed the Laboratory for Civil Engineering Construction Materials in which I had the opportunity to pass on some of my knowledge on materials testing to undergraduate students.When I’m not working on research and testing, you can find me out exploring the world with my fiancé and our dog, Draco.
