Professional website: https://connorjosephwalsh.weebly.com/Early in my career, I have prided myself on gaining experience in a variety of areas to become more versatile as a professional coming into the sports industry. Beyond achieving both a bachelor\'s and a master\'s degree within a six-year period, I also already have working experience in video, equipment, gameday operations, ticket sales and marketing, data collection/analytics, athlete performance, customer service, golf course operations, and player evaluation.The foundation of my skillset is based on my experience working with University of Delaware Athletics as an undergraduate student. During that time, I served as both a Video Associate and Student Equipment Manager for the football program, a Student Manager for men\'s lacrosse, and a Sports Analytics Intern for the university\'s athletic department. My interest in pursuing a career in disciplines like scouting, baseball operations/analytics, and player development grew through my internship experience in sports analytics, where I had the opportunity to work with large data sets related to the performance of student-athletes and their teams. Using that data, I assisted in the process of analyzing and assessing their strengths and weaknesses while also completing statistical evaluation projects aimed at improving athlete performance and future team success. Through those projects, I developed proficiency in Microsoft Excel using data mining, analysis, and design tools.Most recently, I served as a Baseball Video Scout for Sports Info Solutions, where I was responsible for recording and tracking gameplay-related data for the MLB, MiLB, NCAA, NPB, and KBO levels of baseball. Some of these data points included timing/plotting ball-in-play locations, identifying infield shifts, pitch types/locations, and basic scoring information. I was also trained to evaluate play difficulty for the purpose of analyzing defense and baserunning. Through this training I learned how to watch baseball from a more in-depth perspective, by seeking out both positive and negative examples of defensive play and baserunning that go beyond a traditional box score. To supplement this experience, I also attended the company’s annual scout school to gain baseline knowledge on how to how to evaluate players and write scouting reports. All of these professional and educational experiences have fostered a relentless passion to carve out a career in the sports industry, and I look forward to applying my growing skillset to a sports organization in the future.
