ABOUT CONNOR SMYTH

Professional technical test consultant with over 20 years experience; including 13 years in a test lead/management role* Responsible for leading the test delivery on a number of high profile digital transformation projects within the public and private sectors* Comfortable with operating in a “hands-on” lead role that involves getting deep into the low-level detail, including test design, test execution, test automation and performance testing* Recognised as a key agile test practitioner and have successfully designed and implemented test strategies to cover all aspects of testing on a project (including manual, automated and non-functional testing); promoting a DevOps and continuous testing culture* Strong technical ability; capable of leading the design, development and maintenance of robust test automation frameworks, architecture and infrastructure* Strong interest in test automation design patterns; and, when/how it is appropriate for my teams to use them* Actively prioritise the testing of non-functional characteristics so they are handled early and often during the project lifecycle (i.e, performance, security and accessibility)* Experience of test capability building and development. Extremely motivated in developing myself and others, including junior, experienced and senior engineers* Emphasis on customer focus and can clearly communicate and report on all test related matters to various stakeholders on the project (both technical and non-technical)* Experience of performing test assurance activities; working closely with clients to instil confidence in the test approach and providing guidance on good quality & test practices
