ABOUT CONNER BAIRD
As a sophomore at Bedford High School, I am deeply interested in the intersection of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and public responsibility. I am particularly driven by exploring how emerging technologies can be developed and implemented ethically to support equitable, democratic, and socially beneficial outcomes. My academic and technical interests have led me to complete the MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI) in 2024, where I studied artificial intelligence and quantum computing, and the HSA Academies Advanced Economics program, where I strengthened my understanding of economic systems and policy. I scored in the 98th percentile on the PSAT and actively pursue rigorous coursework and extracurricular opportunities that challenge me both analytically and creatively. I am the founder of AiForReal, a nonprofit focused on promoting ethical AI development and increasing awareness of the societal implications of artificial intelligence. I also serve as a member of Ai4Impact, working with peers to advance technology-focused initiatives that aim to create meaningful social impact. Beyond these leadership roles, I am actively involved in my school community through organizations including Math Team, Science Olympiad, DECA, Rotary Club, Spanish Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, and National Computer Science Honor Society. I have also competed in Rubik’s Cube competitions, earning podium placements. Alongside my academic and leadership pursuits, I work at Tucker’s as a dishwasher, where I have developed a strong work ethic, adaptability, and teamwork skills. Outside of school and work, I enjoy basketball, video games, and engaging in thoughtful civic and political discussions. I am especially passionate about supporting democratic values and encouraging informed civic engagement among students. I am always excited to connect with others interested in artificial intelligence, technology policy, social impact, and youth leadership.
