Manguso Focused on how to improve the treatment of poor prognosis recurrent/metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) using immunotherapy. • Designed and led high-throughput CRISPR screens in syngeneic head and neck cancer (HNSCC) models to uncover novel regulators of immune evasion and resistance to immune checkpoint blockade.•Identified and validated UCHL5 as a key immunosuppressive factor that modulates extracellular matrix deposition and suppresses T cell infiltration and activation using in vitro and in vivo models, with implications for improving immune checkpoint blockade response• Collaborated with colleagues to evaluate therapeutic vaccination strategies in preclinical oral cancer models, which resulted in one publication in Oncoimmunology• Led the end-to-end execution of in vitro characterizations and translational cell-based assays, utilizing advanced techniques and protocols to uncover innovative predictive biomarkers with immense potential for transforming therapeutic interventions.• Conducted data analysis, organized ELN, developed SOPs.• Expanded collaboration, communication skills, and leadership skills through strategic partnerships with cross-functional teams of researchers, data science professionals, clinicians, and pharmaceuticals.
