About Michael Condouris
I\'ve been a web developer for 16 years. Early on, my focus was Flash for educational software. Then I started working in advertising, doing banners. LOTS of banners. I loved banners. They were tiny projects with a focus on timing, one or two special effects, and a message. Over the years, I developed tooling to make the banner production process faster and more friendly to reviewers. While I was tech director at BBDO, we moved into HTML5 production before it was cool. By the time I became Tech Director, of course, I was working on a lot more than banners. I led a team of onsite and offshore devs to build several social media aggregation sites, built either with custom CMS or based on an existing social property like Tumblr. In 2015, with quite a few of those projects under my belt, I took the next leap and we rebuilt BBDO.com from the ground up on a React / Flux architecture with a custom CMS. This was a much bigger project than anything I had done to date, and a great success. I led 3 teams, with offshore, offsite, and onsite developers, and did quite a bit of coding on the frontend myself. The result was a blazingly fast, unique Near the end of 2015, I left BBDO to go back into freelancing. Since then, I\'ve been working on projects requiring heavily customized, performant Wordpress, like the Cadillac Dare Greatly and full stack Javascript. On many of these projects, I\'ve been exposed to more formal Agile methodology, and have been using JIRA for project management and bug tracking. For the future, I\'m extremely interested in using React / Redux in production with modern tooling, universal (isomorphic) javascript. and functional programming in general. I love coding, but I also find leading a development team to be extremely rewarding, as long as I can get my hands dirty once in a while.
