ABOUT JONATHAN POWERS
TEACHER/FACILITATOR: I run purposeful, inclusive conversations that are animated by the spirits of shared inquiry and intellectual adventure. Mind-opening insights make regular appearances. My core tools in conversation are fierce listening, unbridled curiosity, and incisive questions. Courses I\'ve led span multiple disciplines and fields, including philosophy, architecture, rhetoric, ethics, creativity studies, sustainability, leadership, writing, literature, ESL, Renaissance studies, economics, fashion, mythology, etc.INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER: I build bold curricula that dig well below superficial understanding. Sessions with me are craft cocktails for the mind: multi-layered learning experiences that balance varied learning techniques and technologies, from analysis to Zoom. Learning entails the personal transformation of the _learner_, which means I\'m always trying to meet learners where they are and support their advancement toward the goals that matter to _them_.RESEARCHER/WRITER: Current research interests include, broadly: the history of the liberal arts and humanities; the future of higher ed; the history and theory of creativity; and teaching as intellectual leadership. I\'m fascinated by #EdTech and #AI and keen to learn more about every aspect of both.THOUGHT LEADER & THINKING PARTNER: I\'m a full-throttle, open-horizon, ninja-nimble thinker, able to grasp the biggest picture, identify the telling details, and pose questions that reframe everything. I have no preformulated frameworks to sell and no axes to grind. I join conversations with the deliberate intention of co-articulating problems and co-crafting approaches that illuminate them.I\'m an omnivorous learner, a promiscuous reader, a dogged writer, and a teacher passionately committed to student success. I love listening to people who brim with enthusiasm about their projects. Please reach out!
