The Rotary Club of New York was founded on August 24, 1909 (Pioneer Club # 6). In its own words it provides \"Civic-minded business and professional men and women with an enjoyable and organized way to make a contribution to our city and to needy areas of the world.\"HistoryIn its early years it served as what Paul Harris addressed as \"The Host Club of America\", since nearly all European Rotarians traveling to the United States were visiting the club after their journey across the Atlantic.Later the Rotary Club of New York had an essential role in the formative years of the United Nations from 1945 onwards, especially in selecting New York City as the future headquarter of the organization. More than half a century later Rotary International still maintains the highest consultative status amongst non-governmental organizations with the UN. Eighteen years in NATO and National operations, including positions as Chief of Staff of Navigation and Meteorology on ITS Doria (Command Fleet 1), Chief of Staff of Communications on ITS Duilio (Command Fleet 2), Captain of Combat Ships and Operational Consultant for the Navy R&D Institute, consultant for the Chair of the Senate Defense Committee.2. Thirtythree years in the strategic planning, evaluation and implementation of advanced technologies in complex cross border systems such as the SLA-C4I, the Multifunctional Airport Security System published in the book TERRORISM: Defensive strategies for individuals, companies and governments (ISBN 09••••••••52). Extensive experience in international affairs, liaison and negotiations for regional development and conflict prevention. In March 2005, as Chair of the International Service Division of the NY Rotary, he was a key player in the peace development process in the Caucasus with the Declaration signed by representatives of over 400 Rotarians that came in Ankara from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia & Turkey.
