Initiate actions such as account freezing, demarketing relationships, or escalating to higher levels.Analyze data and transactions to detect patterns, anomalies, and emerging risk typologies (e.g. behaviour inconsistent with customer profile; unusual fund flows; sanction‐list hits).Maintain and update customer risk assessments, including high-risk customers, politically exposed persons (PEPs), and others requiring enhanced monitoring.Prepare investigations with complete documentation: collect, preserve, and analyze evidence, including digital evidence; produce reports (including Suspicious Activity Reports \"SARs\"/ Suspicious Transaction Reports) to comply with regulatory obligations.Review and quality control of other investigators’ work: conduct second-level reviews / QA to ensure investigations meet regulatory standards, policies and procedures.Liaise with internal departments (Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations) and external agencies (law enforcement, regulatory bodies) in investigations and for information sharing.Monitor regulatory & policy changes (FINTRAC, OSFI, PCMLTFA, sanctions regimes), assess impact, and ensure that internal practices are updated accordingly.Participated in proactive risk detection: thematic reviews, trend analysis, risk assessments, and emerging threats (sanctions, bribery, corruption).Provided guidance/mentorship/training to junior investigators or analysts where applicable.Regulatory & Legal Knowledge: PCMLTFA (Proceeds of Crime and Terrorist Financing Act), FINTRAC Compliance, Sanctions Screening (OFAC, UN, EU, Canada), OSFI Guidelines & Regulatory Reporting, Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC),FATF.
