About Colton King

As a former private equity investor (20+ years including as co-founder of Mountaingate Capital in 2016), I have completed more than 30 investments in entrepreneur-led companies. I served as Chairman of the Board of four platforms. In total, the business partnerships I have formed with entrepreneurs have resulted in aggregate transaction value of over $3 billion at exit. My professional passion is to work hand-in-hand with management teams to envision and define strategy, maximize individual and team performance, and achieve extraordinary growth and value creation. This was the part of my work in the private equity industry that I fell in love with, and motivated me to launch a consulting firm that engages in long-term partnerships with founders along these dimensions. The Macoto Collective is the outlet for this passion. I take my work, but not myself, seriously. I wish more folks would do the same. I’m casting a fly rod at every opportunity. I am a lifelong learner and intensely curious. I run (not fast) for the mental health benefits as much as the physical health benefits. I’m pretty handy with a chainsaw (I own 4). I love to read, and would spend half of each day doing so if I could. I live in a state with more cows than people. Still, I love to meet new people, but preferably one at a time.
