About Colton Parmley

Since beginning my academic progress towards a Master of Architecture in the College of APDesign at Kansas State University, creativity, and artistic skills as well as conceptual and abstract thinking have been demonstrated through design process abilities in different projects. In addition, proficiency with digital programs and physical abilities of modeling, hand drafting, and sketching has developed. But what has most importantly evolved throughout the different programs and approaches of design projects, established both from personal outlook and guidance from educators, is the true understanding of what architecture is, what it can be, and the impact it has on a place, community, or individual.Adaptability is key in not only working through different designs and requirements, but managing time between design studio projects, alternate coursework, on-campus involvements, and off-campus commitments. As such time management and organization are well-developed skill sets as daily schedules have become an effective practice. Furthermore, natural abilities in leadership and teamwork have been displayed through various group projects and participation in the Department of Architecture Student Advisory Board as a representative for the student body.The world of design is where I have find true passion and drive, expanding past the boundaries of architecture. Lots of interest, as well as excitement, is found in product, furniture, graphic, fashion, and interior design practices. Other interests include culinary arts, skiing, wake surfing, scuba diving, and traveling as a means of being introduced to new cultures and experiences.
