Digital Transformation is challenging. It involves streamlining established business processes, challenging tools-of-choice, changing core corporate culture and having a strong digital business leader. As a digital business leader, I have the scars that remind me of the effort required to achieve successful transformation projects and the pain associated with unsuccessful projects- Changed business processes and implemented technology that reduced engineering lead times by 50% while providing custom solutions to our customers- Created digital threads that weaved through Order Entry, Engineering, Manufacturing and Service. Digital twins were used to optimize and validate machine programs which improved efficiency and quality- Developed Knowledge Management software to digitize tacit knowledge.These experiences coupled with a Master of Management Science degree gave me the ability to create a framework that helps customers understand the value of digital transformation- Highlights the business cases that will impact many business value streams- Suggests how digital transformation can improve employee efficiency- Successfully used to analyse multi division, multi product businesses to illustrate how digital transformation will create competitive advantage.
