About Collin V.
I\'m currently a product manager at Google X, Tapestry, building AI products for the electrical grid. Before Google I spent a decade as a founder building Zirtual and then Colony.At Zirtual, I was co-founder & COO. My main responsibility was designing and delivering a high quality service and the product experience to support that, especially as we scaled to serving thousands of paying subscribers. Together with my co-founders, we raised $5.5M and scaled Zirtual to over $12M ARR with a team of 500 (420 service providers & 80 in other functions). We sold Zirtual to Startups (dot) co. Several experiences at Zirtual made me deeply interested in open source contributions & communities which led to me founding Colony. We built a developer platform and web app for people to add \"colony\" to their site or app, which would enable a native incentive layer to open source projects. It quantified contributors Reputation and calculated an influence score which added a weighting to decision making and. We had several thousand developers and projects who used our tools. We raised over $3.5M and built a 23-person team, with me overseeing a 13-person technical and product team.Before joining Google X, I was at a Labs team within Google working on zero-to-one applied AI products: Agent Studio, a web app to easily create different types of agents, and several AI products for data extraction and analysis for teams in Finance, Procurement, and Legal.
