About Matthew Colletti

Within Gartner’s CIO Advisory Practice, I work directly with CIOs and senior technology leaders to ensure IT strategy drives real business outcomes. My work spans executive advisory, in-depth strategic consultations, and the design and facilitation of multi-hour executive workshops (virtually and physically) on topics such as IT strategy, operating model transformation, high-performing culture, executive leadership, and enterprise change. In addition to one-on-one advisory, I contribute to Gartner’s research and thought leadership agenda, including published research, executive webinars, and conference programming. I’ve had the opportunity to speak at and support Gartner conferences, translating complex technology and leadership challenges into practical, actionable guidance for executive audiences. The through-line in my work is helping senior leaders formulate strategy then move to execution in environments marked by ambiguity, pace, and organizational inertia. This CIO support extends across operating model evolution, strategic workforce planning, enterprise transformation, organizational culture, and executive effectiveness. I also support CIO hiring and transitions, as well as executive development in areas such as influence, leadership presence, and personal brand. My professional journey didn’t start at the executive table. It began at 14 yrs, mowing lawns for cash. Through highschool and college, I worked a wide range of jobs, from bartending and flipping burgers to leading sales teams at a local health club. After three years in sales, I became the youngest General Manager in the company, running a sq ft operation with ~60 staff. The volatility of the 2007–08 financial crisis sent me back to college in my early 20s. This time, I took education seriously, building deep relationships with faculty and earning a BS in Finance (3.95 GPA), while laying the groundwork for the first of three startups. For the past nine years, I’ve built my career at Gartner across four business units, working closely with internal stakeholders to create authentic, client value-driven relationships that translate insight into measurable impact.
