ABOUT COLLEEN MCDONALD

Colleen McDonald, a New York native and National Board Certified Teacher. Colleen is a life-long systems navigator and education entrepreneur currently directing the NYS Educator Workforce Development HUB. Colleen served for over three decades as a public educator where she held multiple roles on the local level as teacher, teacher leader, administrator, grant writer, curriculum writer, and elected school board member. She transitioned to pursue statewide systems change by using her experiences as the NYS site director for a federal grant held by National Board of Professional Teaching Standards, a member of the NYS Education Department’s Professional Standards and Practice Board, and as a member of the Commissioner’s Advisory Council. In 2020 Colleen worked with the NYSDOL and NYS Education Department to create the apprenticeship title of teacher and, in May of 2021, registered the first apprenticeship program in the nation under that title. Colleen, now leads the New York State Educator Workforce Development HUB (EDHUBNY). She and her team provide both technical assistance statewide to partnerships to register apprenticeship programs for educators and also coordinates ANEW (an association for a new educator workforce) which acts as an intermediary to provide group sponsorship for employer signatories in order to meet local child-centric workforce challenges through Registered Apprenticeship Programs.
