ABOUT COLLEEN MANN
PhD, CEng, FHEAI am a Materials Scientist and Engineer, passionate about collaborative research that contributes to solving global problems. I lead a team of material science consultants at Amentum and work closely with our international supply chain to direct and deliver complex experimental programs in support of the UK Government\'s nuclear waste management program. I have a strong academic background and extensive experience in the dissolution and characterisation of nuclear materials. I\'ve worked with a wide variety of materials, including glass, ceramics (simulated nuclear fuels), and some natural materials.I am an excellent science communicator, regularly getting involved in STEM activities to educate people about nuclear materials and radioactivity, and presenting at international conferences.As the Education Officer of the Sheffield Metallurgical and Engineering Association (SMEA), I am passionate about engaging with the universities in Sheffield and driven to improve the diversity of the SMEA.My hobbies include kite surfing, road biking, gardening, and CrossFit.
