About Colin Melvin
Seismic data may be black and white, but the geophysicist provides the color that gives it meaning.\"- Colin MelvinThe majority of my experience is in seismic data processing. I have been involved in hands on roles involving shot preprocessing, velocity analysis and modelling, and post migration enhancements in various onshore basins. I have also been a project manager who plans and oversees contractor processing by involving interpreters to assist with QC of major steps in a flow to deliver volumes useful for quantitative analysis and attributes. In addition to computation geophysics, I enjoy project management of new seismic acquisitions and especially attuned to management systems, risk analysis, and technical evaluations. I enjoy interfacing with acquisition contractors and getting a survey ready for execution.Quantitative interpretation rounds out my applied geophysics skills. My work in inversion, AVO, and seismic rock properties provides another perspective to reservoir modelling aside from structural and stratigraphic interpretation.Recently, I have support software quality assurance and product ownership around these geophysical domains using project management skills I acquired over my years of experience. Being a customer of these applications is a tremendous advantage since I know what the issues at the forefront are for geoscientists and reservoir modeling.Let\'s not forget that none of the data and conclusions from it mean anything without clear communications. Communications is my strongest soft skill, and co-workers claim that I can easily explain concepts across disciplines.

Guide the vision of the geophysics and velocity modeling modules within DecisionSpace Geosciences. Look for areas to improve the applications to make the customer experience fluid and address recent issues in reservoir modeling to continue making the geophysics applications the most profitable applications in our portfolio. Recent efforts are to integrate these applications into the iEnergy cloud environment as part of the overarching Geoscience Suite.
