About Colin James
I consider myself lucky to have known exactly what I\'ve wanted to do professionally since I was 13 years old. I saw a behind-the-scenes special about the making of Jurassic Park right before the movie was about to come out and that was that. I was hooked. I am honored and fortunate to work among such brilliant and talented people every day.I have very strong problem solving abilities and consider myself quite resourceful. I am a self-starter and quick learner with solid client relation and listening skills. I utilize my programming ability to communicate with Technical Directors to help develop tools to get even the most challenging jobs done. Started my career in the design & motion graphics world and have since transitioned to photo-real, fully CG cinematics and film visual effects. I am a proficient 3D generalist with a very strong lighting and compositing skill set. I\'ve grown into being a team and department leader. Building departments, setting up pipelines and partnering with directors to realize their storytelling vision. I also mentor artists, and work with production and executive teams to shape a cinematics department that brings the best out of artists and helps them grow into future leaders themselves.
