About Colin Carney

I serve as the tax advisor for many investment funds, covering all aspects of the fund lifecycle including fund structuring considerations, tax-efficient investment acquisition and disposition, and annual investor reporting and U.S. federal and state tax compliance.My areas of technical expertise include US tax issues relating to fund/deal structuring, international tax issues such as PFICs, CFCs, ECI, Branch Profits Tax, withholding tax (including FATCA), and investor/fund/principal federal and state tax reporting. I also routinely work with fund principals on carried interest forecasting and modeling. I also have extensive experience helping funds to anticipate and mitigate risks.From 20••••19, I also served on the Humble Independent School District Board of Trustees and on the Executive Committee of the Humble ISD Education Foundation. In my role as trustee, we navigated significant challenges, such as the relocation of thousands of Kingwood High School students in the wake of Hurricane Harvey and the expeditious remediation of the campus. In May 2018, we won the “School Board of the Year” award at the HEB Excellence in Education Awards.
