About Colin C.
views expressed are my own* Hello LinkedIn, How about I introduce myself to you by answering a few questions. Who am I and what am I passionate about? I am a transactional attorney and an AI enthusiast with a passion and burden in making sure my sphere of influence increases in AI literacy. I believe AI governance and responsible AI starts and ends with humans who have a basic understanding of AI in its various forms. I am an emerging thought leader in the nascent AI governance field. I\'m also passionate about the next generation of lawyers. What has been my journey? After over a decade of practicing as a finance and securities attorney, in 2021 I pivoted to tech by learning basic coding while still working as an attorney at the SEC. I love learning. At the time, I was exposed to a ton of tech startups and I knew I wanted to get into the space. Since then, I have worked for Bloomberg Industry Group working on its Product Team as a Principal SME for Capital Markets and AI Governance, where I have written content and spoken on both topics. Here, I have had unfettered access to world-class engineers and product managers. I now support the Academic Team as I get to educate law schools about our technology and on how to leverage AI responsibly. I still get to talk about AI governance and get to engage with other thought leaders and the next generation of attorneys. I’m open to conversations about opportunities in the AI space, but I enjoy what I\'m doing as well. What are some cool projects I\'m working on? I serve as Co-Executive Editor for the first-of-its-kind AI Governance Textbook sponsored by the IAPP, a globally recognized gate-keeper for the Privacy and AI Governance professions. This is a big commitment but super grateful for this opportunity of a lifetime. I also serve on IAPP’s AI Governance Training Advisory Board. I am also a founder of Tech Law Culture, a new community that seeks to diversify the pipeline into tech for attorneys and compliance professionals by sharing resources to upskill and providing opportunities to network. I also co-teach a course at Howard Law School during the spring semester on Technology and Law, and get to do a bit of speaking as a guest lecturer and speaking on panels. Curious about learning more or see some synergies? Let\'s connect about- AI governance and literacy - Sustainable, unconventional strategies to diversity the pipeline into tech - Legal technology of tomorrow - Mentoring opportunities - Speaking opportunities I\'m licensed to practice in NY and am inactive in DC. Cheers.
