I am responsible for implementing R&D program management function, new product strategy, and technical leadership within SMG Ltd. Whilst in position I have directed the company through a management buy-out and two venture capital and angel fund raises. • Leading the technical development of a MEMS gravimeter from TRL 3 to product release and the development of the highest performance MEMS accelerometer from early TRL to product release expected in Jan 25.• Program and project management (internal and external e.g. Innovate UK), including R&D budgeting• IP strategy including approach, procedures, coverage, and competitive analysis. • Business development and interface with prospective and current commercial partners. Extensive travel and working closely with organisations in USA, Italy, and Japan.• Board reporting and working with the executive team and non-exec directors to develop and monitor company strategy and risk.• Fund raising including equity and non-dilutive funding. This includes grant/proposal writing, and due diligence for VC investment • Line management and mentoring to R&D team of 14 people, and recruitment strategy• Responsible for supply chain management and ensuring export control regulations are monitored and managed• Responsible for marketing strategy including website overhaul, exhibition planning, content development, and representation at international conferences• Overseeing the transition from technology phase to manufacturing. Includes facilities planning for pilot MEMS production, assembly, and test.
