ABOUT COLE Y.

I have worked in health research, communication, and evaluation for 10 years, honing skills in writing, oral communication, facilitation, analysis, planning, management, and stakeholder engagement. My public health interests focsed on mental and behavioral health but include a myriad of skill sets and topics including: public mental health, program design and evaluation, mixed and qualitative methods research and evaluation, injury and violence prevention, social determinants of health, and sports and health behavior. I’m currently open to opportunities to apply my communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills to helping address urgent public health issues.At heart, however, I love interacting and creating with people. This natural affinity led me to work in customer service, beverage, food, and hospitality industries alongside my other endeavors, culminating in 8+ years of customer service experience and working in some of the best bars and restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia. Over time, I’ve grown more interested in the health of service industry workers, who often lack access to health and wellness services and work in a culture that does not always value sustainable balance between work, wellness, rest, and life. Service, food, and hospitality can and should have intention, purpose, and community at their core. Those values and my scholarly, academic training influenced my approach to service and hospitality: thinking about the history of these industries and how they might change for the better.
