About Stephen Olson

I have a passion for renal drug development from bench through launch to provide novel precision therapies that can improve the quality of patient lives. I value the importance of establishing an early overarching strategy to ensure that the correct therapies, indications, and trial designs are chosen not only to achieve regulatory approval but also to optimize drug availability and uptake for patients who would most benefit. I also value the critical importance of a robust and responsible collaboration between academia and industry to develop the right drugs for the right patients at the right time. I have two years of experience working in New Products and Early Pipeline Indications. This has allowed me to work with Biomedical Research, Global Drug Development, and Medical Affairs divisions to gain a deep understanding about the importance of consistent communication, coordination, and strategic alignment between these groups for successful drug development. It has also allowed me to understand where their internal priorities are most at risk to diverge and how to mitigate these potential conflicts of interest. Before my time in industry, I was an academic nephrologist for over 15 years with an expertise in glomerular diseases. I conceptualized, designed and was the primary author of over 15 IRB approved protocols with over 30 publications. Most publications were in high impact journals and highly cited. Multiple publications have been referenced in UpToDate. I also had the opportunity to establish collaborations with world leaders in glomerular diseases.
