Demonstrating the understanding of the VA occupational safety and health program and how it relates to other services and departments. Maintains all required documentation for all fire, safety, industrial hygiene, and Joint Commission programs. Conducts inspections and evaluations for occupational health and safety standards compliance. Inspects medical center environments, Vet Centers, medical foster homes, adult daycare facilities, and community nursing homes. Effectively oversees the Automated Safety Incident Surveillance Tracking System (ASISTS). Investigates accidents to determine circumstances involved, interviews witnesses, makes recommendations for systems improvement, and follows-up on implementation of corrective actions.
