About Cody Lomonaco

I am a hard working, detail oriented, and creative civil/structural engineer with 7+ years of professional experience in the Nuclear Power, Power Generation, and Power Transmission and Distribution Industries. I like to say that during that time the easy projects were reserved for someone else, but I wouldn\'t have traded the experience for anything. I also have internship experience in municipal engineering, bridge design, and data centers. Throughout my professional experiences I have worked with multiple nuclear generating stations, power plants, and public utilities. I have been on two long term field assignments as a field engineer for Nuclear Fuel Storage projects at different nuclear power plants. I have professional design experience in reinforced concrete, structural steel, structural masonry, foundations, site drainage, and secondary oil containment designs. I am proficient in MS office, RISA 3D, RISA Foundation, STAAD Pro, AutoCAD, Microstation, and MathCAD. I am comfortable in GTStrudl but have not used it consistently for a few years.I obtained my bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering (concentrated in structures) at Marquette University, and obtained my master\'s degree in civil engineering (concentrated in structures) at the University of Kansas. I wrote my thesis at the University of Kansas on the effect of bar diameter on deep reinforced concrete beams and still have a passion for structural engineering research. I truly enjoy building meaningful professional relationships both inside and outside of my company. I have a passion for teaching and passing on my knowledge, as well as always working to grow my own knowledge and experience.

   I have been working as a hiring manager for 2+ years. I am responsible for managing, hiring, and developing both Civil Site-Development, and Structural engineers and designers, working within the electrical substation industry. Our group is comprised of engineers, designers, and drafters. This has been and continues to be such a rewarding industry for Civil-Structural work. In comparison to more traditional Civil and Structural engineering industries, there a broader range of project types and complexities. This can range from the extremely large scope and technically challenging projects, to small and midsized projects that allow engineers opportunity to act in a discipline or project lead role.During this time I have served as a senior engineer, engineering lead, and at times a project manager for a variety of Substation project scopes. I love technical project work and work to continue growing my technical and project background to better serve the group I\'m hiring for.
