About Cody Keats
In my current role at NIWC Atlantic, I serve as the Mac/Linux Subject Matter Expert (SME), leading the maintenance and support of Linux servers, workstations, and all Mac devices within a high-compliance environment. My mission is to meet diverse user technology needs while ensuring operational security, reliability, and compliance across a complex enterprise network. Before moving into a desk-based position, I dedicated much of my career as a Regional Service Manager for an Apple service provider, managing multiple store locations along the East Coast. My background is rooted in Apple expertise and Linux proficiency, with a strong focus on secure system administration and delivering high-caliber IT support across platforms.Over the years, I’ve honed my skills across diverse industries as a Technical Director for theaters, Apple Support Manager, Restaurant IT Specialist, Legal IT Consultant, and Higher Education System Administrator. These roles have given me the hands-on experience to tackle real-world IT challenges and compliance needs across multiple domains, empowering me with a versatile and adaptable skill set.Beyond my professional work, I run cocolabs.dev, an open-source initiative that develops tools and resources for the Mac Admin community. I also assist with the ongoing development of the macOS Security Compliance Project (mSCP) a NIST-led framework that defines and automates security baselines for macOS. Through these efforts, I help strengthen compliance management, automation, and efficiency for organizations operating in government, education, and enterprise environments.I don’t claim to know everything; however, my broad network of IT contacts enables me to connect others with specialists for unique needs. As Elbert Hubbard wisely said, “One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. No machine can do the work of one extraordinary man.”Outside of work, you’ll find me at the gym, tinkering with home IT projects, or traveling to visit family. I invite you to explore how my experience and community contributions can support your goals.
