Across the past year, I have had the pleasure of serving as an Investment Banking Associate within Mizuho’s Industrials coverage team. Within the infancy of my tenure with Mizuho, the firm was mandated as a joint lead arranger of a £6.5 billion bridge facility to finance the strategic acquisition of Meggitt PLC by Parker Hannifin. From a global and macroeconomic perspective, the announced purchase established a refreshed multiple within the aerospace and defense industry, requiring the mandated syndicate to acutely consider the bevy of risks associated with the successful completion of the transaction. As such, I was tasked with creating a comprehensive deal contingent overview, which encompassed a highly detailed valuation and AVP model with a core emphasis on the acquisition’s projected EPS accretion across multiple economic factors and scenarios. While the evaluation was entrenched in quantitative application, the need to accurately assess the inclusion of potential strategic interlopers while concisely synthesizing their potential to counteract the proposed acquisition was an essential component of the analysis. This unique and complex approach serves as a staunch validation of my ability to utilize a strategic mindset while ensuring the success of the client and firm alike.Prior to assuming my role with Mizuho Securities, I solidified my ability to facilitate and serve as an engine of growth while holding the title of senior associate within J.P. Morgan’s Auto Division, with a centric focus on captive acquisition and strategy. During my tenure with the firm, I had assisted in the successful integration of two additional private labels, driving incremental pretax revenue upwards of $300 million, while additionally providing key financial insights and leadership throughout critical contract renewals concerning our largest partnerships.As the scope of my desired role has continued to converge towards that of a strategic financial leader, I have consistently pursued unique and challenging sectors with an eye towards diversified development and leadership. In order to further satiate this desire for consistent improvement, I tackled Villanova’s renowned MBA program, the majority of which occurred in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic. Intertwining the dual responsibilities of a demanding full-time position within investment banking, the intense requirements that accompany the Villanova MBA, and the consistent global presence of COVID-19, the recent past has provided a level of preparation that few challenges can replicate.
