About Cody Brewington
I graduated from Missouri State University, Springfield, Mo, with my Master of Science in Criminology with my certificate in Homeland Security and Defense in 2011. I am currently living in Southwest Missouri and working for Missouri State as the Director of the Public Safety Training Center. I worked for the university for four years as an assistant program coordinator for continuing education and eight years as the program coordinator, two years as the interim director, and currently as the director. I oversee classes involving retired law enforcement (LEOSA/HR218), ALERRT Level 1 Active Shooter, POST certified continuing education courses, and other courses ranging from grant writing, leadership, school safety, and more. I have excellent skills in managing large-scale events, workshops, and conferences, including planning, registration, continuing education requirements and compliance, event location planning, food hosting, and locating experienced instructors and presenters. The past fifteen-plus years at Missouri State have offered experience in marketing and promoting events across campus and throughout the State of Missouri.
Experience
Director of the Public Safety Training Center
Jan 2012 — Present · Springfield, MO, US
The MSU Public Safety Training Center was launched in 2017 in Camdenton, Missouri. We currently offer courses to area law enforcement agencies and offer a comprehensive schedule throughout the year that officers can take to meet annual POST requirements to be a peace officer. We offer courses such as defensive tactics, legal updates, racial profiling, MILO firearms simulator, active shooter, police leadership, crime scene investigations, dispatcher training, de-escalation, and crisis intervention team training. We offer POST credit for the Missouri Investigator\'s Association Conference and the US Attorney General\'s Office - LECC Conference, and do one-off trainings for agencies upon request. In 2023 we launched our partnership with Missouri Department of Public Safety Office of Homeland Security, MSU School of Criminology, and Texas State University’s ALERRT Active Shooter program and have trained over 800 law enforcement officers across the State of Missouri.
