The throughline in my career has been tackling large, complicated societal problems with business discipline and humanity. I thrive in situations where the stakes are high and the team is committed. With an MBA in nonprofit management and organizational behavior - and a fair bit of finance thrown in - I\'ve always believed that working in the nonprofit sector demands our best efforts because the problems we\'re tackling are so urgent and their solutions so impactful.• UPAYA SOCIAL VENTURES: Grew fundraising by 400% and portfolio by 300% since joining in 2016; launched organization’s first accelerator and introduced innovative pool of recoverable grants to mimic investment fund structure. We’re now working toward creating 50K jobs through our portfolio by the end of 2022. • VITTANA: Grew outreach 16X by leading program team to refine and improve product offering; Generated a 125% increase in student portfolio and gained 18 new microfinance partners in one year via successful 11-country roadshow in Q1-2011.• UNITUS: As a member of the founding management team, drove 95% of organizational resources, including major gifts and institutional alliances, including one of the earliest microfinance grants made by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Unitus has since spun off into many organizations that are leaders in their field. Progress motivates me to continue this work. I’m known for speaking frankly on what works versus what doesn’t, and I believe that organizations must demonstrate their impact. I’ve been a frequent guest lecturer and conference speaker on topics of social entrepreneurship, innovative social business models, microfinance and hybrid legal structures, including:• Featured as a subject matter expert and thought leader in print and digital media outlets including Forbes and Next Billion• Lectured at UCLA’s Anderson School, Kellogg School of Business and the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business• Acted as three-time judge in the UW Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition If you’d like to talk more about microfinance, impact investing, social entrepreneurship or sustainable development, let’s connect.
