Bio at Thinkers50 Award winner, Margaret is an executive coach and has co-founded three coaching organizations since - Wellcoaches Corporation, Institute of Coaching, and the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching. Her first 17-year career as a biotech executive spanned UK, Canada, France, and the US. Since Wellcoaches Corporation has set the standard for professional coaches in healthcare and well-being, training and supporting health and well-being coaches, in strategic partnership with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM). Wellcoaches and its fifty plus faculty and operations team have trained more than coaches in 50 countries since 2002. Wellcoaches has built the largest community of coaches in healthcare and well-being worldwide. co-authored the first coaching textbook in healthcare, Coaching Psychology Manual, published by Wolters Kluwer, now in its second edition with the third edition underway, and widely used by over coaches and trainers worldwide.She is co-author of 30 peer-reviewed articles and 10 book chapters on coaching, two Harvard Health Books: Organize Your Mind, Organize Your Life (now Train you Brain) and Organize Your Emotions, Optimize Your Life, editor and chapter author of the AMA’s Coaching in Medical Education. Her co-authored Berrett Koehler book on the science of leadership was published July 2025.In 2009, Margaret co-founded the Institute of Coaching, based at McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate. She raised $1 million in philanthropic funding for coaching research grants (ICF) and a research program to define human-centered leadership (AceUp).In 2010, Margaret co-founded the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching a nonprofit subsidiary of the National Board of Medical Examiners, to deliver national standards and certification of health and wellness coaches. She led the establishment of $5 million in funding to form NBHWC and CDC funding of group DPP coaching standards.
