Too many leaders are trying to light fires under their people in order to get them to take action. I believe that greater work will be accomplished if we focus instead on lighting the fire in their hearts and minds. We light the inner fire through providing a clarity of purpose but we keep it lit by optimizing the roles of those we lead to remove the barriers that extinguish the fire of a clear and inspiring purpose.
