John Sellers, a Medford, OR native, started his real estate career in Seattle WA nearly 30 years ago after several years in the corporate world. While he had great success, it stifled his freedom and wanted to be his own boss. So at 25 he resigned from his job and took a year off back-packing around the world before moving to Seattle.Starting from scratch in Seattle with no friends or clients was not a walk in the park but John learned prospecting at a high level quickly through trial and error and coaching. Knocking on doors every day and holding open houses was hard work but it paid off. With each sale, he was building great relationships with his clients and they started to refer him business.After 5 years in Seattle he decided along with his wife Jill that Seattle rained too much and it was time to move to Scottsdale, AZ, and start over. However, this time John used better marketing skills than he had the first time around and was able to close just under 60 sides in his second full year. 48 of the deals were buyer side and he only showed houses to a total of 53 people and only worked 5 Sundays.Coaching had always been an interest of John’s and after that second year, Joe Stumpf of By Referral Only, asked him to go on the road and teach agents in the US and Canada how to grow their businesses.In 2009 asthe great recession had hit AZ John and Jill decided it was time to move their young family back to Medford and build again. This time he used technology to build the business and in his first full year he was in the top 30 agents in terms of production.Today, John’s time is spent selling houses, flipping houses, managing his rental portfolio and partnering/coaching agents. He has a real passion for showing and coaching agents how to get control of their real estate business( some it is doing more deals, some doing the same but getting control of their time and money), creating a personal life they love all the while building residual income.
