ABOUT KAREN CLARKE

I am a partner in the Construction & Engineering team of International law firm CMS, specialising in the drafting and negotiation of construction and facilities management contracts. The majority of my construction experience has related to large-scale UK development projects and includes advising on the procurement and implementation of construction contracts, consultant appointments and ancillary contract documentation for a wide range of clients across the construction industry on various office, education, residential, retail, research and leisure projects. In relation to FM contracting, I have advised on the drafting, negotiation and implementation of complex multi-layered facilities management contracts and major property management outsourcing arrangements. I have also advised the Chartered Institute of Building on revisions to its standard form of Facilities Management Contract and assisted in the drafting of FM contract guidance notes for both CIOB and the GC/Works/10.
