Redteam provides advisory services to owners of industrial capital projects. We work with capital project leaders to create execution strategies for studies and projects, develop project management plans, implement project controls and manage risks, and navigate uncertainty in capital project development. As Owner and Principal Consultant, I’m responsible for everything - business development, administration, marketing, client projects. I love this role because I can balance my time between many interests, shifting focus from client projects to developing intellectual capital, writing a blog post, to company administration.But mostly, I like solving problems for clients on their capital projects. I analyze the problem, develop recommendations based on empirical observations, and work with clients to implement these recommendations.My clients are any organizations developing capital projects, although I focus primarily on the mining and metals, energy, utilities, and infrastructure sectors.

The majority of capital projects exceed initial cost and schedule estimates, often by substantial margins that cause project stakeholders to doubt the initial investment decision. This type of project failure is observed across sectors, industries, and geographies. Why do projects so frequently fail? What can we do to improve project execution to improve capital return on investment and project economics?These are questions I ask myself constantly as a researcher and a consultant. I’m seeking to better understand the nature of uncertainty and risks in capital projects to develop better methods for planning and executing projects for improved predictability.I devote substantial time and effort to studying and working on capital projects, and I’m always looking for new challenges.
