   At Go1 I\'ve managed several different teams and structures all fully remote and across timezones in the US, both coasts of Australia, and most recently individuals in Vietnam. Definitely a juggling act at times. I am currently responsible for two teams, our primary DevOps Team and another more traditional engineering team. With our DevOps team we\'re focused on supporting the rest of the engineering org while producing tooling and structure that makes it really easy for engineers to do the right thing and harder for them to do the undesirable ones. A lot of day to day involves juggling the being reactive to the needs of people in the org and making progress on larger chunks of work. Current big initiatives center around resource utilization, things like ensuring services in Kubernetes are scaling and using resources effectively, as well as surfacing costs to each responsible team for their services. This will enable engineers to make more educated decisions and track changes to the costs of things they\'re responsible for. The more traditional engineering team is responsible for backend services supporting the management of our learning content. Large initiative we\'re currently on is building out a services, using Strangler Pattern, that will consolidate functionality into one place. Currently we have a variety of different services as well as some direct DB access supporting these use cases and we need to centralize that so that we can move faster in the future.
