ABOUT CLLR. AARON ROY

I’m Aaron Roy, a Hartlepool councillor, registered nurse, and founder of Mariners United Sporting Club CIC. I’m driven by a deep belief that sport, culture, and community leadership can create real social change. In 2024, I became the first Asian councillor elected in Hartlepool. I currently serve as Vice Chair of the Planning Committee and Vice Chair of the Adult & Community-Based Services Committee, and I hold positions on Audit & Governance, Finance & Policy, and the Health & Wellbeing Board. I also serve as a Public Governor at North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, and I’m proud to be an appointed Director of Teesside International Airport, helping shape regional infrastructure and connectivity. That same year, I founded Mariners United as a BAME football club to help integrate the fragmented Indian student community through sport. In 2025, it became Mariners United Sporting Club CIC—a registered community organisation focused on empowering young people, promoting cultural inclusion, and building stronger, more united neighbourhoods, starting with Kabaddi. From organising the UK’s first Tri-Nations Kabaddi Cup and National Beach Kabaddi Championship, to delivering mentoring, safeguarding training, and outreach for at-risk youth, I use grassroots sport as a platform to bring people together, challenge exclusion, and celebrate diversity.Whether in civic leadership, healthcare, or the community space—I’m here to help people play, unite, and thrive.
