ABOUT CLIVE LAWRENCE

Clive Lawrence OBE leads the education strategy and school improvement across a multi-academy trust of primary, special, and alternative provision schools. He oversees a central team of education specialists, safeguarding and school improvement leads, and family support professionals. His work is grounded in a commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes for all pupils. Previously, Clive led a group of special schools and the SEND strategy across mainstream primary and secondary settings within one of the largest multi-academy trusts in England. He has also taken a large split-site special school to Ofsted Outstanding. Under his leadership, the school gained national recognition as a Teaching School, World Class School, and SEN School of the Year. Clive brings significant system leadership experience, including as a national leader supporting schools in challenging circumstances. He serves on a range of local and national boards spanning education, SEND reform, kinship care and equality. These roles reflect his broader influence on policy, practice, and strategic direction within and beyond the education system. His passion for education is deeply personal. Raised in social housing and educated in an inner-city school, he understands the barriers that disadvantaged children face. As a kinship carer to his niece, who has been in his full-time care since six weeks old, Clive is driven to improve life chances for vulnerable and marginalised children. In 2022, he was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours List for services to education, recognising over two decades of leadership dedicated to equity, inclusion, and system transformation.**Articles of interest ** https://schoolsweek.co.uk/introducing-clive- https://youtu.be/DnBP-FcteK4
