ABOUT CLIVE GRINYER

Following a career as a design leader, I am an author and presenter on all aspects of design and provide service design training courses through our company now+next, co-founded with Anja Kluver. I also head Design and Experience for Primitive.com - operating system for AI Agents in Financial Services.My book \"Redesigning Thinking\" was published in June 2025 and was a finalist in the American Best Books Award and the Goody Business Book awards. My first book \"Smart Design\" was published in 2001. have led corporate design teams at Barclays, Cisco, Samsung and Orange France Telecom and worked as a strategic advisor to Bosch. I led the Service Design course at the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London between 2019 and 2023. This pioneering course has led the development of service design and worked with an amazing array of companies, public sector bodies, cities and organisations. I set up Barclays\' first Service Design team, combining data, customer insight and research with creative design methods to transform customer service experiences. My career started with designer Bill Moggridge in the early days of Interaction Design in San Francisco before co-founding the design company Tangerine. I went on to lead design teams in several organisations including Samsung, Orange, Cisco and the Design Council. I was Head of the Service Design Masters at the Royal College of Art and am Visiting Professor at Glasgow School of Art. As a trustee of the Design and Technology Association, I support their work in design in primary and secondary education and am Chair of the DBA Design Effectiveness Awards. I was a trustee of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) and Policy Connect. I lecture internationally on design, technology and customer experience. In 2024 I directed Project Love, a research project sponsored by Fetzer exploring how design can foster love, and am co-founder of the not for profit Designing for Love. In 2018 Creative Review described me as \"a passionate advocate for the transformational potential of design for some three decades. Today’s focus on the value of digital product design and on design’s value in leading customer experience in the UK is, in large part, due to his work.\" Creative Review Creative 50, September 2018.
