ABOUT OSABUOHIEN CLIFFORD UWUORUYA

I currently teach undergraduate sociology courses at Lansing Community College. I also collaborate with the Engagement Office at Nelson Mandela University, where I support the development and implementation of community-engaged initiatives through resource mobilisation and strategic partnerships. I hold a PhD in Sociology, and my academic interests lie in African sociological theory, Yoruba Ifa cosmology, group dynamics, community engagement, and the role of higher education in advancing social justice. As part of the Knowledge and Sharing Hub within the Engagement and Transformation Portfolio, I have provided both intellectual and programmatic support, contributing to research and activities across various Hubs of Convergence (HoC) projects. This includes designing and supporting initiatives that bring together academics, students, and community partners to co-create solutions to societal challenges.Previously, I served as a Grant Coordinator for the Engagement and Transformation Offices and as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Nelson Mandela University. I have authored and co-authored publications focused on African intellectual heritage and community-centred pedagogies, with a particular emphasis on critical, endogenous approaches to knowledge. I remain passionate about using my academic and professional skills to foster spaces of collaboration, dialogue, and social change.
