ABOUT CLÉMENT BOUILLIER

I am a generalizing specialist and software crafter, working as a freelancer, and now mainly chief operational & finance officer @Superindep. I started as a Software Engineer on Microsoft.NET platform in a consulting company. I quickly develop technical specialty on it, and first interest in Agile principles and practices. After a 18 months project led this way, I became more and more convinced about Agile in IT development, through needed client orientation and business value focus, which I think to be the more valuable in Agile approach. I worked then as \"quality and method consultant\" to build and deploy at the entreprise level what I have learned, but in a context of CMMI process improvement. It was really enlightening, even if I did not share the project vision. I started over projects for another client. The context was really different with lot of several specialized teams having to collaborate (or at least try) and “classical” offshore outsourcing. Sadly, it was a typical failure of these organizations, but I learned a lot of it. I then understood several mistakes, which I understand better only after some years, through lot of reading and community feedbacks (Alt.Net Paris, XP France,…). There were too much “local optimization” as in several typical organizations, and offshore can’t be only considered as a basic way to reduce cost without taking care of complex processes involved. Now I try to leverage what I have learned in each of my new positions, focusing on business client needs and business value, trying to lead my colleagues to pursue the same goal, using practices around Software Craftsmanship initiative. I never forget to learn more from human interaction, experiences and all the community. I mainly know Microsoft.NET platform, but from an architecture point of view, I think I can manage to work on several technologies. I worked with PHP Symfony 2 or JEE for example leveraging practices and bridging the technology gap with lots of parallelism between platforms. From my freelance experience since 2013, I learned a lot about concerns of freelancers, helping developers to start their own business through HackYourJob. Now with Superindep, we help much more freelancers to keep their serenity, avoiding disturbance of their administrative tasks and giving them a clear view on it.
