About Clement Mensah
Founder, Dancer, Teaching Artist, Choreographer Clement was born and raised in Ghana, West Africa. He moved to the Netherlands at the age of 11. After high school and graduating from CIOS (sports academy) he went to Amsterdam School of Arts and graduated in June 2008. He came to the Alvin Ailey School in 2007 as an exchange student where he received a fellowship to study. During his time as a member of the Student Performing Group at the Alvin Ailey School he apprenticed with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. Clement has worked with the Francesca Harper Project, danced with Elisa Monte Dance Company performing both national and international. Clement joined the Matthew Westerby Company in 2009 and led the hugely successful Project Poetry Live! in partnership with the Litchfield Performing Arts, Connecticut. Mr. Mensah has taught workshops and master classes at different institutions and schools all over the world including the Alvin Ailey School, The Theater School in Amsterdam and Ghana University to just name a few. Mr. Mensah has been artist in residence at Dancers’ Workshop, WY, Bennington College, VT and Episcopal School of Jacksonville, FL as well as teaching and assisting teachers at the Center for Advance Training (C.A.T.) at Trinity Laban. In 2011, Clement received his MA degree in Dance Performance at Trinity Laban School of Contemporary dance and music in London and returned to the U.S performing arts scene. He danced with Ronald K. Brown/Evidence A Dance Company and appeared as a guest artist in Josè Limón Dance Company. Currently, he is a member of Battery Dance Company and Reggie Wilson/Fist and Heel Performance Group and as a performer, choreographer and teacher, Mr. Mensah founded Off the Radar creative project in 2014 to facilitate and re-establish the communication and relationships between people and aims to use the gift of creativity to bridge different cultures and bring generations together through self-expression.
