ABOUT CLEA FELIEN

More then ten years experience teaching at the college level, three as a full time tenure track professor, in both undergraduate and MFA programs. Taught all levels of Painting, Drawing, Life Drawing, and Art Theory at the Sonoma State University, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, St. Cloud State University, St. Benedict’s College, St. John’s University and St. Ambrose University. My education includes five years technical French academic training in drawing and painting from The Atelier, one year anatomical drawing study at The Art Students League NYC, a BFA in Drawing and Printmaking from The Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and a MFA in Painting and Art Theory from Vermont College of Fine Arts. I have more than fifteen years of consistent exhibition history, which includes MoMA (the Museum of Modern Art, NYC); featured artist at the Film Festival at Mass MOCA; MAEP Gallery Minneapolis Institute of Art; two Figge Museum shows; the Wiesman Museum Mpls, gallery representation in Chelsea, New York, and selected artist for the journal New American Painting. As an art critic, I have been published in Rain Taxi, the Pulse, other journals. I have curated shows. I have co-founded artists collectives. I have consistent arts community involvement including as a Board Member of Soo Visual Arts Center, co-curator of The Slim Whitman Gallery and the Tinkle Gallery, panel member for the Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and membership in VACUM (Visual Art Critics Union of Minnesota). I was also a founding member of And More, an artist’s collective based in NYC.
