I lead a research organization dedicated to pushing the boundaries of AI and harnessing the power of AI/ML and Data Science to tackle complex challenges facing the government sector. Our research endeavors to discover new opportunities for the application of AI/ML/DS, build prototypes of AI solutions, and promote innovative, human-centered AI at the crossroads of data-driven and model-driven research.ARCAID researchers provide deep data science and machine learning capabilities in advanced communications, health care, and logistics, as well as addressing problems with social impact. Some of our current entertaining explorations involve characterizing large language model properties (e.g. ChatGPT, Galactica, Llama), demonstrating how they can provide value in scientific and engineering workflows, and investigating approaches to mitigate their potential to accelerate the already pervasive equity issues in information and technology.

ABOUT CLAYTON KERCE
I lead the Advanced Research in Computing and AI division at Georgia Tech Research Institute and serve as GTRI PI for DARPA\'s Scientific Feasibility (SciFy) program, where we built FARSCAPE — an autonomous multi-agent system for scientific claim verification, achieving substantial agreement with PhD-level feasibility evaluators in materials science. My research spans autonomous AI systems, mechanistic interpretability, and AI safety. Current work includes interpretable-by-design transformer architectures that enforce verifiable modularity (three papers in preparation/under review, 2026), adaptive information control for autonomous reasoning agents (DeepControl, arXiv 2026), and neuro-symbolic reasoning over temporal knowledge graphs 2024, ICLR 2023).Previously: founding division head for GTRI\'s Assured Software and Information Division (AI for software/ML reverse engineering and cybersecurity); support lead for the DoD Generative AI Task Force Lima (2023); contributor to the evaluation foundations for Executive Order 14110 on Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy AI; appointed by the Secretary of Defense to the Missile Defense Advisory Committee (20••••13).
