Claudia Davis is an analyst with interest and experience in data representation, marketing, social media, graphic design, the development of new media, technological ethics, and metadata creation, organization, and management. Graduating from Indiana University Bloomington with a Baccalaureate degree in Informatics with minors in both Computer Science and Marketing, Claudia went on to gain experience in the field of Public Relations with the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, Graphic Design with the nonprofit organization, Styleta Inc, and data representation and interface design with Indiana University’s UITS. Claudia worked for Yale as a Business Systems Analyst & Web Producer, supporting a group of writers for the clinical rebranding effort, and as a subject matter expert for managing a medical taxonomy as it applies to search algorithms and implemented functionality - in addition to supporting external clients with daily web service support. She now works as the Senior Technology Engagement and Development Manager at LAIKA, LLC.With a lifelong passion for animation, Claudia takes great interest in the methods by which we communicate the importance of respect, understanding, responsibility, and compassion to our world’s youth - especially regarding leveraging animation and early education programming as an educational resource.Combining her professional interests with her personal passions, Claudia gave a presentation at SIGGRAPH 2018 entitled “Emphasizing Empathy in the Pipeline Process” - focusing on how leadership could be more mindful of their own emotional intelligence in order to promote a better working environment and achieve better outcomes. In 2019, she reprised this presentation with another juried talk and a supplemental discussion section. She has been accepted to speak again at SIGGRAPH 2020 in a Talk,\"Making Time for Emotional Intelligence in Production and Technology,\" which aims to discuss common stressors and communication discomfort exacerbated by both remote work and COVID-19.Claudia has also volunteered with the Massive Collaborative Animation Project as a Project Manager. She has also volunteered with organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of America teaching children from a variety of ages how to make flip books, comics, and stop-motion animation.

1. Sr Technology Engagement and Development Manager

   As the Sr. Technology Development Engagement Manager in Technology, I manage a team that is responsible for delivering new and bespoke technology solutions to business units across the studio, and developing technology strategies to address new production and business operations needs. In addition, I oversee two development teams that work on Shotgrid workflows and end user web applications for different user groups across the studio, and serve as the Product Manager for these deliverables.In my role, I have continued to work closely with division leadership, subject matter experts, and technology teams to understand the studio’s unique creative and operational needs to ensure that strategies developed cater to LAIKA\'s workflow and culture - all while looking ahead to help meet the goals of executive leadership the studio at large.My team has the great pleasure of working with all Technology departments and teams to guide the development and delivery of new technologies and support users throughout the studio. During this process, I help my team facilitate testing of such new technologies and tools and facilitate the collection of feedback from end users. I have worked hard to develop concise, effective communication strategies to help manage organizational change and my distinct methodology helps my team explain complex technologies and the value they offer - while catering to diverse abilities and learning styles. I help my team guide our technical staff in purchasing, development and updates to better meet the needs of the studio - keeping an eye on emerging technologies and their potential for application.During my work, I help guide my team as they routinely survey end users of technology systems to learn about new use patterns or problems users encounter while using the tools, and report findings to developers in the form of user stories. I often liaise between developers and users to ensure each group is communicating requirements effectively.
