About Claude Courbois
I contribute to, build, and lead high-performing analytics teams that transform data-driven business processes, making them more useful, compliant, and profitable. I currently apply my expertise in financial markets and big-data analysis to SEC securities regulatory data (equities, derivatives, fixed income, crypto).Until July 2021, I led the Index Portfolio Management (IPM) team at Nasdaq Global Indexes. The IPM team selects the securities that make up over indexes, including flagships such as the Nasdaq-100 (NDX), the Nasdaq Biotechnology Index (NBI), and the Nasdaq OMX Stockholm 30 (OMXS30). IPM is a global team operating Nasdaq’s rapidly growing index business at the highest standards in the industry. I led the successful growth and transformation of the portfolio selection team to meet the standards set by the IOSCO Principles for Financial Benchmarks. We transformed operations by extending the team’s expertise in financial products, financial data, process automation, and operational best practices. Previously I managed the US office of Nasdaq’s Economic Research (ER) group. ER is a team of economists and analysts who provide business, market structure, regulatory, and strategic support for Nasdaq management and customers. Before joining ER, I led business development for Nasdaq Global Data Products. My team helped launch and sell Nasdaq proprietary data products that now contribute tens of millions of dollars in revenue each year. I led design and development of Nasdaq Market Replay, winner of the 2008 Adobe MAX Award in the Enterprise Category. Before arriving at Nasdaq, I was an analyst at the International Food Policy Research Institute specializing in research promoting food markets in developing countries. Future interests include joining or leading high-performing teams engaged in:• Data analysis & insights: Rapid delivery of accurate, complex business intelligence using the latest analytical tools.• Process improvement & compliance: Automate and transform complex data-driven processes and teams. • Data products: Design, operate and promote data analytics products for internal and external clients. • Market structure & trading: Analyze data from complex trading events to improve trading services, reduce trading costs, and mitigate risk.• Crypto & defi: Prepare new financial firms for continued growth, institutional clients, and regulatory scrutiny.PhD in economics & CFA d••••••••@gmail.comPhoto credit: Me, 2022.
