About Claude Stansbury
I am a Washington, DC-based partner in Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer\'s US tax practice. Although I spend the bulk of my time advising multinational companies on cross-border acquisitions, financings, restructurings, and disposals, I also have extensive experience advising private equity funds on fund and portfolio company investment structures, take-privates, financing of portfolio companies and leveraged recapitalizations, workouts, PIPES and convertible securities and tax-advantaged exits. Additionally, I provide tax law advice related to structured finance transactions, products and derivatives.My clients tend to be organizations with global interests or operations, to which my international experience in structuring joint ventures and operating arrangements in developing economies and giving guidance on complex tax controversy matters and tax aspects of international arbitration disputes is of value to them. My recent work has involved providing legal counsel to clients across a diverse range of industries including the telecoms, finance, energy and natural resources, and aerospace sectors.I am admitted of the bar in California and the District of Colombia, and to appear before the US Tax Court, the US Court of Federal Claims and the US Supreme Court.
